  WORKSHOP LOCATION 10th Great Lakes Cosmology Workshop will take place from June 14 - 16, 2010 in Chicago, IL. The workshop is being hosted by the Kavli Institute for Cosmological Physics (KICP).

The Kavli Institute for Cosmological Physics is located in The Laboratory for Astrophysics and Space Research (LASR) building at the University of Chicago's main campus in Hyde Park.


  Getting From the Airport Taxis from O'Hare airport costs about $60+ tip; taxis from Midway cost about $35+tip.

The Omega Airport Shuttle runs between O'Hare Airport and Hyde Park every hour from early in the morning to late evening. Reservations are not required. Schedule and fare information is available at the Omega Shuttle website. If taking the Omega Shuttle ask to be dropped off at the International House (1414 East 59th Street). This is one of the shuttle regular stops.
  Bus and Train Information Hyde Park is connected to downtown Chicago by the Metra Train (not to be confused with the subway trains) and several CTA bus routes. Take the Metra Train from Randolph or Van Buren Street and Michigan Avenue (downtown Chicago) to 57th Street (if coming to the KICP directly) OR at 59th Street (if going to the International House). Then follow the map for directions. Similarly, you can take either the #6 Jackson Park Express or #28 Stoney Island Express buses from downtown Chicago to 57th St (for KPTC) or 59th St (for I-house).
  By Automobile Please check Google maps for directions to the most convenient visitor parking garage (5535 S Ellis Ave, Chicago, IL 60637). The parking fee is $12 a day (or part thereof for shorter durations). The parking fee may be paid by cash or credit card. From the parking structure, walk two blocks south to 57th Street and turn right (west).

All guest rooms are dormitory style with communal bathrooms. The rooms have ceiling fans but are not air conditioned.

Student participants may secure an International House lodging reservations by completing the online registration form. Aimee Giles, KICP's Travel and Event Coordinator, will make the International House reservation on your behalf only for students, as KICP will be billed directly for your room. You will then receive an email confirmation. Should you need to make any changes to your reservation or have questions about the facility, please call the International House directly (773-753-2270).

If you choose a hotel other than the International House, please make your reservation by contacting the hotel directly. Please note that if you do so, you will not be reimbursed by KICP for the lodging costs you incur.
